In the past, I struggled with the day to day pressures of being a busy mum with 2 children, partner and support person to my husband, home maker all as well as working part time. At times, I noticed myself feeling stressed, worried and overloaded.  When things felt all too much I found I became reactive to what was going on around me and often responded in ways that did not reflect the sort of parent and role model I wanted to be. At the end of the day, we all want the best for our children and to be the best mum we can be. Feelings of guilt only add to the issue and sometimes it’s hard to see a better way.

Perhaps you are a woman who is having a similar experience, living a busy life, juggling parenting, work and home duties and trying to fit it all in and maybe you are feeling frazzled as a result? It was during these moments of difficulty that I found myself feeling that there had to be an easier way.

It’s not something that is often talked about and I noticed that most women generally kept their worries about how they were really feeling to themselves. The truth is, that our work situations, our finances, our relationships and our daily experiences are all constantly changing. It’s how we respond to those challenges that makes us feel happy and confident, or uneasy, worried and stressed.

Ten years on I now believe having a calm and confident mindset is easy when you know how. I’ve come to understand that unless we look after ourselves first we will struggle to give the best of ourselves to the people we care about most. Learning how to respond to life in a balanced way is a vital skill as a women in today’s hectic world!
